MORE THAN A SWIM CLUB...
The Cameron Club takes its job as protector of Brady's Pond very seriously
A lake, like Brady's Pond, is not a  swimming pool. The Cameron Club strives to balance the demands of a naturally functioning  wetlands and  its thriving  ecosystem with the  high standards set by the Cameron Club for a swim club.
Working closely with licensed  skilled professionals and with the Department of Environmental Conservation(DEC), part of your Cameron Club annual dues is used  for the maintenance and improvement of the water  quality of Brady's Pond. A natural, spring- fed body of water located in the heart of suburbia requires constant attention to keep  the water clean and swimmable.
The Cameron Club is both Owner and Guardian of this magnificent  body of water, Brady's Pond.

Over the years Brady's pond has endured the environmental insults of being a small pond in a rapidly growing community . And it has survived thru the efforts of the Cameron Club.
In the 1960's,part of Brady's Pond was "taken" , filled in, to allow the Staten Island Expressway to easily approach the Verrazano Bridge.  Over the years ,homes have been built in almost every lot available on  the lake. We are surrounded by busy highways and  streets, the SIRT and residences of all sizes. The Cameron Club  strives to keep  Brady's Pond as natural as it can be in this  very  unnatural setting. A little bit of the country located in the city.

Protection against Flooding...

Brady's Pond is the uppermost boundary of the South Beach Bluebelt , accepting rain water  from  the highway and adjoining streets. It is the regions first defense against flooding. The pond acts a reservoir collecting water and releasing it gradually via the "weir" at the end of Delphine Terrace. The released water then heads under West Fingerboard Road to Cameron Lake. From there thru a series of underground streams this  storm water ultimately ends up in Raritan Bay and local streets remain flood-free during times of intense rain. Brady's Pond  and it's position in the South Beach Bluebelt drainage system  provides a unique service to the community.
